talat wins App of the year at the Prolific North Tech Awards
On Thursday 15 October, talat won App of the year at the Prolific North Tech Awards 2026. Mike and I were there to collect it.

Standing out from the crowd
AI meeting notetakers have become an incredibly crowded space this year. Since TechCrunch featured talat in March, local, offline transcription has got pretty saturated too, with an influx of apps which look a lot like talat, very few of which get even the basics right. Even Google's first offline notetaker shipped without echo cancellation, so on a call through your speakers, every line from the other side lands in the transcript twice.
We've spent the last seven months on exactly those details: cancelling echo, knowing who said each line, starting the recording when a call starts so you don't have to remember. Nobody notices them until they go wrong, and they're a big part of why talat works as well as it does. We're proud to see that recognised, first by TechCrunch and now by Prolific North.

Thank you
Thanks to Prolific North and GRAFT for running the awards, and to the judges.
Thanks also to everyone who uses talat. A lot of what's in the app started as a request on our roadmap, a message on Discord or an email.
If you haven't tried talat yet, you can use it free for ten hours without creating an account.
