Transcription

Everything under Settings → Transcription controls how audio becomes text. All transcription runs on-device. Nothing is sent to the cloud.

How transcription works

talat transcribes meetings in any of its supported languages automatically — there is no model to choose. A real-time draft appears as you speak, then a final, higher-quality pass cleans it up once each phrase finishes.

Vocabulary boost

Add words and phrases talat should listen for more carefully — proper nouns, brand names, and domain terms the model wouldn’t otherwise expect. Turning the boost off can make transcription slightly faster; changes take effect from your next meeting.

Speaker identification

Tell voices apart in system audio. Turn this on for calls with more than one person on the other side so you can name speakers and have talat recognise them in future meetings. For 1:1 calls it’s not needed.

On lower-spec machines the toggle may be disabled, and the setting will tell you why.
