End a meeting

Stopping a recording

A recording can end in three ways: auto-stop when the conferencing app releases the microphone, the stop button in the main window or the menu-bar / tray icon, or the global hotkey (if set).

Auto-stop grace period

When the conferencing app releases the microphone, talat waits for a short grace period before stopping, in case you rejoin. The grace period is configurable in Settings → Recordings, from 0 (no grace period) to 30 seconds. Back-to-back calls within this window are captured as one recording.

Titles and summaries

The transcript is already complete when a recording stops. talat transcribes in real time, so there’s no post-recording transcription step.

If summarisation is enabled, talat then generates a title and a summary in the background. The transcript is usable immediately. The summary appears on the meeting when it’s ready. Which provider generates the summary (local or cloud) is configured on the summaries page.

Exports and webhooks

Auto-export and webhooks fire once the title and summary are in place, so the exported file always contains the final transcript and summary.
